So, I have a confession to make. I’m a 27-year-old man who lately, tends to watch Reba whenever I’m bored, feeling down, or stressed. Yes, it’s been off the air for over twelve years, yet it’s still a hilarious show that’s also not afraid to talk about some very challenging issues, such as divorce, teen pregnancy, living with mistakes, etc. And a show with a very encouraging theme song. For life happens, and your “roots may be planted in the past,” but you gotta keep going. Stay strong and courageous and just take this life one day at a time. . . . He can get you through anything:
Once upon a time, there was a wise man who used to go to the ocean to do his writing. He had a habit of walking on the beach before he began his work.
One day, as he was walking along the shore, he looked down the beach and saw a human figure moving like a dancer. He smiled to himself at the thought of someone who would dance to the day, and so, he walked faster to catch up.
As he got closer, he noticed that the figure was that of a young man, and that what he was doing was not dancing at all. The young man was reaching down to the shore, picking up small objects, and throwing them into the ocean. Continue reading →
Be careful in what you put your pride in. And know that even when life drags you down, there is still something special about you, in which you can take joy in. Two lessons that Pixar reminded us of in 2004, right before they also reminded us of the values of family and heroes with The Incredibles.
Sometimes, life can be like a banana. It can be going well, sweet even. A source of nutrition that makes you feel good and healthy, and gives you the potassium that you need.
But sometimes, life can be like a banana peel. Not like a peel in real life, but in cartoons or Mario Kart racing. A peel that you step on, and slips you up. Even if you try to avoid it, you may slip on another peel that you hadn’t seen from the lack of attention.
In the midst of life are struggles; they come in all kinds of shapes and sizes. Bills, bullies, peer pressure, poison ivy, flu, cancer, etc. No matter who you are, you have a struggle of some sort. Continue reading →
