Stars & Whales

The heavens declare the glory of God,
    and the sky above proclaims his handiwork (Psalms 19:1).

“But ask the beasts, and they will teach you;
    the birds of the heavens, and they will tell you;
 or the bushes of the earth, and they will teach you;
    and the fish of the sea will declare to you.
 Who among all these does not know
    that the hand of the LORD has done this?
 In his hand is the life of every living thing
    and the breath of all mankind” (Job 12:7-10).

And when he [Jesus] had said these things, he went on ahead, going up to Jerusalem. . . . As he was drawing near—already on the way down the Mount of Olives—the whole multitude of his disciples began to rejoice and praise God with a loud voice for all the mighty works that they had seen, saying, “Blessed is the King who comes in the name of the Lord! Peace in heaven and glory in the highest!” And some of the Pharisees in the crowd said to him, “Teacher, rebuke your disciples.” He answered, “I tell you, if these were silent, the very stones would cry out” (Luke 19:28, 37-40).

Ascribe to the LORD, O families of the peoples,
    ascribe to the LORD glory and strength!
 Ascribe to the LORD the glory due his name;
    bring an offering, and come into his courts!
 Worship the LORD in the splendor of holiness;
    tremble before him, all the earth!

 Say among the nations, “The LORD reigns!
    Yes, the world is established; it shall never be moved;
    he will judge the peoples with equity.”

 Let the heavens be glad, and let the earth rejoice;
    let the sea roar, and all that fills it;
     let the field exult, and everything in it!
Then shall all the trees of the forest sing for joy
     before the LORD, for he comes,
    for he comes to judge the earth.
He will judge the world in righteousness,
    and the peoples in his faithfulness (Psalms 96:7-13).
