X-Tremely Furious!

I quite enjoyed the X-Men movies, and not solely because I share a name with one of them (Wolverine, though Professor X is actually my favorite), nor because of their cool superpowers; but mostly, because I felt touched by their story. The struggle of Xavier and his students who were persecuted by humans because they were mutants (different), and yet they still defended them against dangerous forces, such as Magneto.  However, more and more I have sadly become frustrated by the movies. First Class introducing major plot holes (such as Charles revealing to Logan in the very first film, that he and Eric had been friends since he was 17 (not to mention that the walking Xavier was still friends with Eric in the beginning of The Last Stand), or how he also mentioned beforehand in the same conversation, how Storm, Cyclops, and Jean Grey had been some of his first students, nor is the strong chemistry of friendship between Charles and  Mystique hinted at all in the earlier films), holes that not even Days of Future Past fix, when they erase all the events of the first three movies.

Despite these hiccups, I was excited for Apocalypse–until I saw the trailer. I didn’t like them saying that the Bible took its inspiration for the Four Horsemen from Apocalypse, but I could live with that. However, what INFURIATES!!! me, is Apocalypse’s line, “I’ve been many things, over many lifetimes,” being called by many names, one of them being YHWH. Yahweh, יהוה, is the divine name of God! A sacred name! His personal name that He revealed to man, to His people. The name,  that the Jews would not even pronounce in fear of breaking the Third Commandment, instead saying “Adonai” (Lord). Yes, Apocalypse is a villain, yet still, he is played by a human, and humans should not have wrote such blasphemy into a script! It is a vile misuse of God’s personal name. It’s wrong, sinful. I am both furious, hurt, and saddened to see such a corrupt use of the divine name. And no longer, do I even have a hint of desire to see this movie. There is only one Yahweh.
